Canine Companions®
Dog Loss Grief Support
The death of a Canine Companions® dog or puppy is a particularly deep loss, one best understood by those who have experienced the profound richness of living and working with these extraordinary animals. Let’s share the burden of grief by coming together to listen, remember, and take comfort in each other’s presence. All members of the Canine Companions® community are welcome.
The weight of grief is less when we hold it together.

About the facilitator
Lyena Strelkoff is a two-time recipient of a Canine Companions® service dog and the founder of Lantern Soul Care, a private practice providing online spiritual counseling to family caregivers, healthcare providers, and people living with chronic illness or injury. Her first dog, Reba III, was lost to cancer after 10 dedicated years of service. It was this loss that inspired Lyena to become certified in interspiritual counseling/companioning. Having wished there was a Canine Companions® grief support group when Reba died, she volunteers to facilitate this monthly gathering as a tribute to our extraordinary dogs, and the remarkable relationships we in the Canine Companions® community have with them.
